The revealing on all of the objects turned out fantastic. As mentioned in the last post, there’s a little bondo patchwork to be done on some of the objects, but overall, we’ve got some some winners down at the park. Really excited to see the park fill in with some key pieces that were missing. Thanks again to everyone that’s helped out for this pour. We’re already out there enjoying it, even if it means late night generator sessions due to the nature of daylight savings trying to keep us down. Sean Mcmahon: back noseblunt to end the session on the fresh bank.

A great amount of thanks is in line to Regional Ventures and High Grade Materials for splitting the bill to dump us a full 9 yards of concrete into all of our prepped materials down at the park. Everything will take two weeks to cure, then we will be unveiling the pieces. Due to the nature of pouring on top of concrete without certain prep work, there will be a delay on some objects as they need a little bondo work to get them ready. Huge thanks to everyone that helped shape out the objects. Unveiling in two weeks! Check out more of the photos here… and be sure to check out Eli Potter’s clip from the day. Thanks homie!

Continuing the tradition of celebrating the greatness of dressing up and getting weird, the park crew and many others threw down on a little something we call tricks for treats. Everyone gets to have some fun and get a little sugar for showing up and being part of the action. Thanks to our friends at Phono & Co. for donating the candy and some soft goods as well as Premier for the prizes given to the top tricks. Check out our homie Sam Murray’s cut from the event. Thanks to everyone that came and to Josh Higginson for a kind donation of nasty Little Caesars to everyone’s faces.
Since the inception of the garden and it’s installation this year behind the pavilion, it has reached it’s full growth potential and could use some needy hands for picking. A little information that may have been left out on the original post about the Clemente garden:

Founded in the name of Roberto Clemente, a man who died trying to supply the dire needs of his native country with provisional foods, this garden was founded as a way to bring the community together on a common source: food. Everything grown within the supplied planter boxes is free to the general public. We encourage taking anything you can use, but we ask to do so in moderation and only when ripe so as everyone can enjoy. The garden is grown organically, using natural additives, to maintain a healthy garden, thus, a healthy community diet.

Please visit the garden and take as needed. Email chris@clementeskatepark.org to find out more information or to find out how to volunteer at the garden.

Also, just a head up to keep an eye open for a finalized skatepark design in the very near future.

On June 25′th Green lion hosted over twenty artists that transformed blank Vans shoes into works of art. The shoes were displayed and silent auctioned with a 30% cut to the artist and a 70% cut to the park. Viewers were asked to vote on there favorite and the top three walked away with some grab bags of awesome. There were some impressive pieces on display, including Erwin’s Erkfitz’s plane pillow combo winner displayed above. Thanks again to everyone that made it out to the event and shared some Founders beer with us. We had a good time and we hope it happens again in the near future. Accordingly to this post, keep an eye open for some pieces to be moving into the art garden throughout the year.
In the great name of Roberto Clemente, a man who died trying to feed his people, the Clemente Community garden is now open for business. Three 4′x8′ cedar planter boxes behind the park pavilion are housing a cross section of vegetable goods including a variety of tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, leaf lettuces and some basic herbs. The garden goal is to supply the local community and anyone who visits the park with access to free, organic goods that they can use as they wish. Next year an educational gardening program will be introduced that will offer basic knowledge on garden tending. Please contact us if you would like to get involved in the care for the garden this year. Check the progress of the garden as it grows here.

The sun was shining, the burgers were sizzling and everyone was chilling. Thanks to everyone that came down on June 18th to show support for Clemente and Premier. The day started off with some music, skating and the initial phase of planting the community garden followed by the annual Premier game of skate. Congrats to Talen Bartz for taking the glory and the pot of $160, and props to Ben Hansen for winning best trick on the new park butter bench, pulling a full board setup on a 5-O 3 flip out. Following a long audio technical failure, Coach Chuch fandangled the projector to musical life, and nearly a hundred people viewed “Post Script,” Premier’s fourth video, once the sun set. Thanks to everyone that made it out. If you were there, you know how rad it was to hang with such a huge skate crew. Check out the photos on the Clemente flickr page as well as Eli Potter’s killer snaps of the day.

As the seasons turn, the snow has melted, revealing what appears to be a ramp scrap yard. We’re looking in pretty shabby shape after the long wet winter claiming nearly all of the wood ramps, so the majority of them will be making a shift out for either repair or fuel for a backyard fire.

With the old shifting out, we welcome the new with concrete. Throughout the year, keep an eye out for new concrete objects springing out of the ground. Please be respectful of the new pieces and give them time to cure. If you haven’t seen them there for at least a week, leave them be and come back to shred them when they are ready so that everyone can enjoy. For our pegged friends, please keep your pegs from grinding edges without metal. The layer of concrete is not very thick, and it cannot withstand too much abuse without cracking.

Thanks to everyone who has been helping out laying concrete down, making Home Depot runs and throwing in money to fund the whole project. Making this park one step closer to what we would like it to be should help us survive another year without a legit park to ride. Keep in tune for more to come.
